My Tacoma Construction Company Wilder Outdoor Spaces
For those of you who follow me on Facebook, Instagram or our YouTube channel you probably already know that in addition to photography and videography, I am the owner of a separate construction company in Tacoma, WA (where Laura and myself are based) called Wilder Outdoor Spaces. For those of you who just follow this blog though, I realized I don’t think I have ever mentioned Wilder on here, and since it’s a pretty big part of allowing us to travel the world with our cameras I figured I should share a little about it with y’all.
What is Wilder Outdoor Spaces?
Wilder Outdoor Spaces is a Tacoma construction company. We’re a fully licensed, bonded and insured general contractor that designs and builds creative modern spaces. We started out strictly focused on designing and building custom outdoor projects like fences, decks, pergolas, sheds and patios in Tacoma, but after several clients requested we do some additional projects that weren’t outdoors, we decided to expand our scope and include tiny homes/tiny houses, garages, ADU/DADU projects, remodels and just about anything else that our clients can think up.
How did Wilder come about?
First and foremost, I’m a creative. I’ve played music, shot photography, painted things, filled books with drawings/words, built stuff and traveled A LOT, but for most of my life I’ve made the majority of money by working in the construction industry. For the last several years before starting Wilder I was the lead builder at local landscape construction company based in Seattle. After returning home from our first long term travels (2+ months) in Vietnam back in early 2017, it became apparent that I wasn’t going to be able to continue working for that company and continue traveling like I wanted to. I knew the only real option was to start my own company so that I could have the money and freedom to be able to leave on multi-month extended travels each year like I envisioned. It was a risk for sure and a lot of things could’ve gone wrong, but luckily everything has worked out wonderfully and the company has made it possible for me to live out my dreams. We’re going into our 3rd year now, and I can definitely say starting Wilder Outdoor Spaces was one of the best things I ever did.
